The mission of the Animal Welfare Committee of the AABP is to advise the board of directors and the leadership on issues pertaining to the welfare of cattle. The AWC also has a responsibility to inform the membership and the public about the humane care and handling of cattle, including medical and surgical procedures, cattle husbandry and euthanasia. The AWC reviews issues related to cattle welfare, collaborates with relevant groups, and assists in the development of policies that are consistent with both the current ethical norms and available scientific literature.
